Nice day for a walk on beach and saw several others doing same.

Nice day for a walk on beach and saw several others doing same. Started walk with sun, ended with hevy cloud cover and light rain. Beach remains very clean with no plastic bottles, styrofoam, shotgun shells, etc. which were very common in years past.

Pelicans diving for food off shore
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 3.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Saw 2 sea stars in surf, did not appear to have wasting syndrome.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. Scattered pieces of lumber. Two small pieces of rope, 1 with some fish net entangled.

Severe dune erosion causing many large shrubs and trees to fall onto the beach. Previous report in February showed dune cliff stable but receding.

Apparent crab exuvia - lots of Dungeness crab shells along the high-tide line and in the shallow mini-lagoons formed at low tide.

Juvenile bald eagle flew northbound just before the sighting of the gull.
