There were many mussel shells clustered at McMinnville beach access, a deep hole (human dug) in front of the Breakers Condos, a lot of clear jellyfish (dead) in the tideline (not wrackline).

There were many mussel shells clustered at McMinnville beach access, a deep hole (human dug) in front of the Breakers Condos, a lot of clear jellyfish (dead) in the tideline (not wrackline). Saw two dead common murres. There is increased erosion on this mile.
Human Activities
Number of people: 50. Walking or running: 40. Sitting: 9. Photography: 1. Other Activities: Some evidence of dune erosion between 'sisters' and Neskowin Crest (no riprap here). Beach has gentle slope. A small, shallow gully (backwash) is beggining to form in front of no eroding dunes..
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 2. common murre
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt).
Natural Changes
Erosion of vegetated foredune. The area north of 'sisters' house appears to have increased erosion.

The north 1/2 mile of 254 was recently eroded to the point that I did not recognize it.

One cannot help but notice the 120+ large clumps on entangled kelp all along mile 254.

The north half mile of 254 (after the end of the rip rap )has experienced serious erosion.

There is a marked difference between the 1/4 mile of rip rapped beach with its gentle slope and 2' shelf of sand blown against the rocks AND the north 3/4 mile where the dunes are receeding and are eroding in height.

It has been two months since my last observation and, of course, there have been many storms, a great deal of rain and high winds in that time.

One dead sea lion which I understand is all too common at this time on the Oregon Coast.
