Large numbers of Velella Velella in driftline thoroughout the entire length of the mile.

Large numbers of Velella Velella in driftline thoroughout the entire length of the mile. Collected kitchen size trash bag amount of ocean debris, plastic bottles, bags, balloons, fishing gear. 2 asian bottles. One large Skate casing, approximately 10" long.

Temperature: 64 F. Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 3.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 7. Number of dogs: 6. Walking or running: 3. Playing in sand: 4.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 6.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Styrofoam, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Skate Casing
Natural Changes
Erosion of vegetated foredune.

The north 1/2 mile of 254 was recently eroded to the point that I did not recognize it.

One cannot help but notice the 120+ large clumps on entangled kelp all along mile 254.

The north half mile of 254 (after the end of the rip rap )has experienced serious erosion.

There is a marked difference between the 1/4 mile of rip rapped beach with its gentle slope and 2' shelf of sand blown against the rocks AND the north 3/4 mile where the dunes are receeding and are eroding in height.

It has been two months since my last observation and, of course, there have been many storms, a great deal of rain and high winds in that time.

One dead sea lion which I understand is all too common at this time on the Oregon Coast.

This is my first observation for mile 254.
