Report Details

Very pleasant day for a walk. The beach was fairly clean of trash, but someone dropped an upholstered chair and a mattress, among other things, in the Moolack parking lot. URG! Minimal amount of new erosion for this area. New set of wooden stairs.7 to 8 people walking, along with 3 dogs. Typical scattered gulls. 7 dead birds; one was a rhino auklet (somewhat unusual I am told).

Steps down bluff.

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune, Newly exposed roots/trees falling.

There was nothing startling or unusual about this beachwalk except that we noted significant destruction of a staircase and its foundation below the large vacation rentals just south of Moolack Beach.

38 is a large number of people on this section of beach for any time of year but it was a sunny, windless day so it was perfect for beach walking.
