*There are very few left-over signs of summer tourists. Several "structures" have survived the tides. Surfers in the waves many mornings and evenings.*Eight snowy plover were foraging at the last high tide mark, and dropped into footprints when folks passed close by.*Summer tides didn't fill in all dune erosion from last winter, so beach access is steep from Day Use, Overlook and trails through the dunes.The recent winds have carved beautiful designs in the sand.

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 2.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 12. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 5. Surfing: 7. Surfers came down through South Beach State Park Day use. Walkers were far north and south of that area.

Notable Wildlife
8 snowy plover were just north of the Day Use beach access, and the surfers were crossing the beach right where the plover were foraging the high tide line. The plover would drop into footprints out of the surfers way.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 8. Many dead common murre in September. No signs of oiling or entanglement.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Wood pieces.
Man-made Modifications
Dune modification/removal. Summer tides didn't fill in last winter's dune erosion. Steep accesses to the beach.
