Mile 214 - South Beach SP, South Jetty Yaquina River - September 26, 2020

Mile 214 was overcast and shrouded in fog this afternoon, but that didn't slow any visitors. People enjoyed walking their dogs, flying kites, and even horseback riding on the unseasonably warm/humid fall day. It's obvious that familes of whales are just offhshore as whale burps of all sizes dotted the wrack line. Other treasures in the wrack line included stranded moon jellies and a dead bird.

The receding tide revealed an interesting structure on the beach. It appears to be some sort of fenced in area; perhaps a trap built by jellyfish for benthic snacks?

This little unicorn rode it's last rainbow, but hopefully some of its magic will live on in others.

Moon jellies dotted the wrack line in an attempt to join their brethren on land.

The whales are healthy off south beach! Plenty of whale burps along the wrack line.

A new pole was erected near the south end of mile 214, perhaps a communication tower from Venus. The further back might not have been close enough to the water for transmission.
