Mile 214 Report
South Beach SP, South Jetty Yaquina River
March 3, 2022
A huge difference in the sand deposition from the previous month.
Report Details
A huge difference in the sand deposition from the previous month. On the last month's observation logs and debris were on top of the sand; today's observation, the giant logs were almost entirely buried in sand. The sand bluffs along the beach used to have a sharp contrast between their edges and the sand floor. Now the edges of the cliffs are gradual and sloping. Beach grass on the tops of the bluffs seem to be really wind damaged...Absolutely no driftline or wrack along the entire distance of the walk. See photos for reference. Animal Life: 6 Gulls (flying) 30 sanderlings (shore line) 12 Crows (flying) 2 crows sitting on logPeople and Dogs: 8 people and 3 dogs present but gone withing about 5 minutes of the observation time. Beach was pretty empty of people during the walk
