Mile 187 Report
March 23, 2017
Bob Creek is a posted Marine Reserve and no fishing is allowed.
Bob Creek is a posted Marine Reserve and no fishing is allowed. As we arrived we saw a man carrying a fishing pole come around the rocks on the north. I continued to take his picture as he came closer and waded across the creek. He had a cloth bag around his shoulder/neck that looked like it might contain fish. At the waters edge before he returned to his car it looked like he was removing bait from his line. I did not take a photo of his car or Oregon state plate. I did not know the phone number to call and report the sighting of an active fisherman at this posted area. When I got home I looked at my photos and saw the number right on the sign. I now have it on my phone. I called and reported the activity. A short time later Oregon State Police called and I described everything to him and emailed him the photos. Quite a few people looking at rocks on the beach. We picked up a little beach trash but left when it started to sprinkle.
Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 2.0 feet.
Number of people: 20. Walking or running: 10. Fishing: 1.
Cars/trucks parking: 12.
5 Oyster Catchers
Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. Not much trash
As you walk from the parking lot to the beach you can not help but walk in shell midden debris. Saw one spot which might have been dug and disturbed but not for sure. Will keep an eye on it.

Beautiful sunny day for my first trip to Bob beach while visiting in the area.
It was a beautiful day, rather warm, many people enjoying the low tide and tidepooling.
