Mile 187 Report
Neptune SP, Bob Creek, Gwynn Knoll
June 15, 2018
A beautiful day with a very low tide.
Report Details
A beautiful day with a very low tide. There were certainly more photographers out this day than on other occasions. Upon returning to the parking lot from my walk the lot was at max capacity for cars.
Conditions
Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: -1.5 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 6. Photography: 3. Tidepooling: 1. One person who was exploring the tide pools was smoking and while it was outdoors, I noticed two other individuals make faces when they came near him and smelled the smoke.
Vehicles
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 1.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. There was surprisingly little human debris in the driftline area. There was more kelp and algae than I've noticed on previous visits, both in quantity and in diversity of types.
Natural Changes
The initial area closest to the parking lot was made up of larger rocks and stones and created rolling hillls of these stones, which I saw one person slide down a little bit when he lost his footing.
