Actions & Comments

It was a warm, sunny day on the beach with some high clouds at times.  Today was a “King high tide” day with the high tide being approximately 12:15 p.m. and estimated at 9.2 feet. Low tide approximately 7:45 a.m.  Tide estimated from 5' to 8' during the 2 1/2 hours I was on the beach.I started the survey from the Sea Perch RV Resort.  I was given permission from the resort to access the beach.  Very friendly staff at the resort and they were interested in what the CoastWatch is doing.  As I got on the beach I found a large amount of small pieces of trash in the driftline (see pic).  I was able to identify one red plastic bottle top with the word “Portola” written on it.I identified 9 sets of stairs coming down from the bluffs.  Sea Perch RV Resort does not keep their stairs down all year round. (See pictures of all steps.)I found one crab dead near the rocks to the west of Endless Sea Bed & Breakfast (name came from Google map) after the tide went out.I observed 6 to 7 dozen seagulls on the beach, in the water and flying.Observed 17 people and 4 dogs on the beach in a variety of activities: walking, playing in surf, sitting and rockhunting. There were 8 vehicles parked in parking areas 85 and 86.  The parking areas were clean.
