This was a very foggy day on the beach. Temp-47 degrees F. Wind-2 mph60 people and 18 dogs were observed on the beach which is the most that we have ever observed.A large section of the bluff slid down onto the north end of the beach.1 dead sea bird was observed (wing only) and this was reported to COASST.There were only a few sea birds observed during the survey which is very unusual.Driftline debris was non-existent which is very unusual.

Temperature: 47 F. Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 0.7 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 60. Number of dogs: 18. Walking or running: 47. Playing in surf: 4. Playing in sand: 5. Other Activities: Picnicking-4. This was the most people that we have ever seen on the beach. A large number of the people came from the Sea Perch RV Resort which was filled to capacity. One of the first weekends when the state opened up after the pandemic.

Concerns

Climbing bluffs/seastacks

Apparent violations: Two children were climbing the bluffs north of Tenmile Creek.

Disturbances: Shorebirds moving in response to humans/dogs

Notable Wildlife

There were almost no birds on the beach during this survey which is unusual.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 1. No band and only the skeleton of one wing and a few feathers were left.

Driftline Content

There was no debris in the driftline noticed during this survey. This is unusual as there is usually a fair amount of plastic pellets found on the beach near the Sea Perch RV Resort.

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls. see picture 21 for the amount of dirt that slid off the bluff taken on the north end of the beach.
