Report Details

It was a sunny and calm day with the temperature at 48F at the start of the survey.Wind was calm/light at approximately 1.5 mph out of the west. There were 30 people and 6 dogs observed during the survey. A large number of these people were nearby residents or people staying at the Sea Perch RV Resort. While we started the survey within 1.5 hours of low tide there was very little sand to walk on with most of the beach being loose rocks. Residents that we talked to stated that the sand started to disappear in December the storms at the beginning of January removed most of the sand. The very north end of the beach did still have quite a bit of sand. The driftline near the north end of the mile did have quite a bit of small pieces of plastic. There was also bigger pieces of styroform scattered throughout the rocks. No new development was noted but there has been some repairs made to stairs due to being damaged in the storms. There appears to be parts of the bluff that have been receding compared to when we started surveying this beach over seven years ago. Rarely have we seen very much of a landslide.
