A pleasent afternoon for a stroll on Heceta Beach - sunny with a light breeze for a change. Long lines of high washline greenish-brown phyto/zoo plankton and algae debris on the wet sand beach - typical for fall days with decreasing sunlight. Large amounts of 1/4" to 1/2" "Cat's Eye" comb jellies (Pleurobrachia bachei) washed up along the entire mile along with a single Pacific Sea Nettle (Chrysaora fuscescens). No Moon jellies or mole crabs observed today. Several large flocks of sanderlings feeding in the wash line.
