Unusually balmy afternoon on Heceta Beach today! The SE breeze was blowing the surf mist back off-shore so distant headlands stood out in sharp relief for a change. Lots of eel grass (Zostera marina) and occasional bull kelp (Nereocystis luetkeana) in the wrack line today, along with smashed bits of Pacific sea nettle jelly (Chrysaora fusecescens), hundreds of 2-4 " pyrosomes (Pyrosoma atlanticum), and a gazillion 1" long white-ish tubes from the cellophane tube worm (Spiochaetopterus oculatis).
