Large quantities of Pacific Mole Crab (Emerita analoga) exoskeleton molts in the high swash line along Mile 171 today. The vast majority were about 1/2" in length, with a few larger one up to 1" at most. One bald eagle was cruising southbound along the surf, looking for dinner. It looks like the summer sand is beginning to accumulate once again on the upper beach, seasonal "transverse" dunes beginning to form from the recent NW winds.
