Report Details

It was a beautiful day on Mile 152 and we were the only people (and dog) on the beach. There were no ATVs or vehicles. The beach was very clean, a nice surprise after our August walk. In fact, it was so clean, there were no shells, casings, driftwood, or anything on the beach. Threemile Creek runs into the beach on the southern edge of Mile 152, and it was also clean.

Conditions

Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 10.0 feet.

Human Activities

We walked the beach just before leaving for five months, so our report is a bit early. I was happy to see how clean the beach was, probably because of clean-up day. There was no trash to speak of. The beach was barren of shells, driftwood, birds, etc. except for an enormous clump of bullkelp, about 12 feet long. There was one group of seagulls - and us!

Concerns

Apparent violations: none.

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 1.

Notable Wildlife

A huge clump of bullkelp. One group of seagulls. I have never seen any mammals or birds other than seagulls on this beach.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass.

Actions & Comments

It was a beautiful day on Mile 152, and we were the only ones there. There were no ATVs or vehicles on the beach, just a couple of hunters parked on Sparrow Park Road going to the beach. The beach was very clean, a nice contrast to our walk in August. In fact, it was barren of seashells, driftwood, birds, etc. There was an impressive clump of bullkelp, at least 12 feet long.

Very high tide and wave action and not much beach, so we were a bit uneasy, looking at the bluffs in case we needed to scamper up them.
