Report Details
Sunday began with a 59-degree but very foggy walk at 5:30 a.m. with a -2.0 tide. It was hard to tell whether any live wildlife was out, but a mangled bird carcass and a headless but smelly adult marine mammal were there. The night's high tide licked at the eroded dune base in spots. Lots of plastic litter: bottles, hard pieces, sheets and bags. Shell fragments, tiny crab molts, kelp and rocks constituted the high line. I was surprised to see the first of 4 rock hunters pawing through the gravel bed in the fog at 5:30. The others and their dogs came later. Three vehicles in the lighthouse road pullouts.
