Mile 195 - South San Marine Beach, Starr Creek - July 31, 2020

Half of mile 195 is on the 804 trail. During the covid crisis, I have been avoiding that portion, which tends to be crowded with visitors not wearing masks or keeping a safe distance. But I braved it to walk with my dog Westly, in celebration of his tenth birthday. As you can see in the photo, we had ppe.It was a beautiful, warm and mostly sunny day. As expected, the trail was crowded, but there was plenty of space on the beach for social distancing. There were more than the usual number of visitors, hiking, picnicking and playing in the surf. Dogs were having a rollicking good time. I even spotted a whale.

Walking north oh Wayside Lodge I saw 15 or so dead Black Turnstone. That was the only species of bird that was dead. Lots of plastic bottles that I picked up.
