Mile 195 - South San Marine Beach, Starr Creek - August 6, 2013

Report Details

There is extensive erosion along this mile, especially along both sides of the 804 trail. At the end of the trail there is a house very close to the water. At the beginning of the beach north of the 804, Starr Creek has had cement and riprap placed along its sides, and most of the houses along the beach have large boulders to protect them from the surf. Several houses have cement steps going to the beach and a new house is being built along this mile.

There has been extensive erosion on either side of the 804 trail. Beyond the 804 trail, there are a lot of houses with riprap and new building occurring.

Walking north oh Wayside Lodge I saw 15 or so dead Black Turnstone. That was the only species of bird that was dead. Lots of plastic bottles that I picked up.
