Crab and Mole crab casings in driftline.
Report Details
Crab and Mole crab casings in driftline. Large chunk of styrofoam in surf line and a large fish net next to creek. Watched an Oystercatcher nest on the rock south of Haystack Rock. Large water heater on high beach. Five pigeons and a lot of swallows collecting mud. About 5 dead gulls on beach. Low human impact (5)-3 walking, 2 collecting data on Black Oystercatchers.

Five pigeons and a lot of swallows collecting mud.

Total dead birds: 5. About five dead gulls at different stages of decomposing. One was an adult dead in the nest up on the rocks.

Mile 99 is now mostly flat, without the sand dunes seen on the last survey.

Although there has been over 9 inches of rain since October 1, both creeks (Johnson and Crooked) on mile 99 are at lower than expected levels of max depth of approx 5 inches at usual crossing spots.

Late August along Mile 99 shows noticably lower sand dunes than in previous years.

Mile 99 shows effects of the winter storms, with expansion of the creeks (Johnson on the south, and Crooked Creek to the north) and erosion of the foredunes.
