Mile 333 Report
Columbia Beach, Camp Rilea MR
October 26, 2009
Sweet Autumn day on the beach.
Report Details
Sweet Autumn day on the beach. Access at DeLaura Beach road heavily rutted by vehicles. Three trucks on beach but no hikers. Beach recently swept by waves and mostly clean of litter save for a few plastic bottles. Strand line lacking significant debris. Encountered a recently dead greebe whose death throes were recorded in the sand. Killed by recent algal bloom? No sign of nasty foam today. Also found a well-picked over gull, and a series of large vertebra (sealion?). Live ammo exercise at southern end of hike blocked access to next mile.
