Mile 274 Report
Cape Lookout SP
July 4, 2012
Quite a crowd for early in the day.
Report Details
Quite a crowd for early in the day. Many families setting up for a full day at the beach w/tents, coolers, chairs, etc. The beach was pretty clean - noticed a lot of styrofoam. Talked to the ranger who said tsunami debris has been washing up mostly after storms - one small boat, lots of buoys and floats, lots of styrofoam. People are taking the buoys/floats as souvenirs. He said lots of people are coming to the beach specifically to look for debris. Didn't seem to be the case today - people engaged in usual beach activities - wading & swimming, building sand castles, walking and sunbathing.
