Mile 274 Report
Cape Lookout SP
February 5, 2018
Today was my first visit with a camera since the January storms.
Report Details
Today was my first visit with a camera since the January storms. Most of the mile is part of Cape Lookout State Park. There has been considerable damage to parts of the park itself. The spit has been seriously eroded in places. Wave overtopped the spit north of the campground for about a 300 yard stretch as well as parts of the campground itself. Sections of the picnic area were also damaged by waves. The south section of the mile cannot be accessed, even at low tide, due to beach erosion. Photos of the damage and erosion are attached.
