Mile 270 Report
Cape Lookout south face
July 22, 2020
This is a very beautiful mile of coast.
Report Details
This is a very beautiful mile of coast. I was able to walk the whole mile along the shore at low tide. There are enormous boulders all over the shore and major cracks in the cliffs. Some small sea caves were on the western portion of the mile and I noted some very interesting rocks and minerals present. Lots of sea birds here and on the eastern portion of the mile there is a smell present in the air and I did see numerous dead starfish scattered around the sand and in the tide pools.
Conditions
Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: -1.2 feet.
Human Activities
A man came out of the ocean in full scuba gear and said he was spearfishing! Wild. He said the water was very cloudy and he could not see anything.
