Mile 261 Report
Haystack Rock, Cape Kiwanda
April 5, 2009
Very nice day on the beach.
Report Details
Very nice day on the beach. A lot of people walking dogs. Lots of kids building sand castles. No unusual dead fish, mamuals, shellfish.Just a nice day at the beach.Sand levels very normal for this time of the year.Of course with the recession all building has come to a complete stop.We are not sure if this is a good sign or not. We hope for controlled building and not a complete stop.Perhaps once building resumes we will be able to direct construction again in a positive direction.Larry and Ielean Cox Rouse

Wow what a change from last month! State Parking lot is closed for a couple of months while construction on the new parking lot and restroom continues. The tree ( object I show as a measure of sand deposition ) is really getting uncovered! Survey also for COASST, no beached birds or mammals found. The beach access point at the north end of Bob Straub State Park is still unusable for vehicles, due to a massive erosion event and 5 foot sharp edges to the beach.
