Report Details

This was the first trip for JGEMS for this beach with Jesse Jones from Coastwatch and Patricia McBride from the Oregon Coast Aquarium. We were there to study the beach grass, the dune grass, Bull Kelp, and marine debris in hopes to help reintroduce sea otters in Oregon. Our research day was warm and sunny and we found a large amount of kelp and dead birds. In addition, we also found a lot of marine debris and litter. We did not find any significant disturbances as there were not a lot of other people on the beach besides us.

From my perspective on horseback, the beach looked in great shape and was being used by visitors just like a beach should be on a nice summer day.
