About 1/4 to 1/2 miles from the north Roads End Beach entrance I discovered and photographed several (I think I counted 17) dead murres and one dead cormorant at the high tide rack line. I was startled that each bird had 3 or 4 colored plastic tags tied to its wing. Hopefully the tags were applied AFTER the bird had died! I later saw two other dead murre further down the beach that did not have the plastic tags. The high rack line was covered with large sea kelp, sea weed, logs, and other debris.

Just wanted to say there have been a lot of brown pelicans this season, more than I've ever seen, and I'm wondering if they will stay for the winter?
