Report Details

Low tides have resulted in quite a wide beach at this time of year. Accesses need to be carefully scrutinized before attempting, as they have changed at least and (some) have become unusable at most.

Conditions

Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light.

Human Activities

Number of people: 4. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 4.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt).

New Development

Bluff development.

Man-made Modifications

New riprap or shoreline protection structures. Additional riprap was placed along this mile that significantly reduced the amount of beach during the winter. During this spring to summer season, the tides have been so low that access through the complete Mile 238 is possible, unlike during the winter.

Actions & Comments

The addition of riprap has basically closed some of the beach access points. Access is possible at marker 50B and 50, but not at 50A which is in Mile 238. Access is possible between lots #279 and 281, but not at Circle Rd.
