Mile 238 - Salishan Spit, North Lagoon, Siletz Bay - January 27, 2017

This was the first time I visited mile 238. Most of the debris picked up washed in from the ocean.

Temperature: 57 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 7.1 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 9. Walking or running: 7. Playing in surf: 2. Five adults and four children. Two children were running in the surf.

Notable Wildlife

There were no birds or other live wildlife seen on mile 238.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Styrofoam. About four to five pounds of debris and trash was picked up to include lots of small pieces of styrofoam and plastic, the side of a plastic crate, a 20 inch round donut shaped piece of styrofoam, three plastic bottles, a yogurt container, a rubber tire from a toy. I will bring a larger bag next time.
