November 4, 2019
Overall there has been few noticable changes since the last visit and the mile appears to have had light use.
Report Details
Overall there has been few noticable changes since the last visit and the mile appears to have had light use. An additional fire pit in the rocks at point 2 and a new trail was observed halfway down the trail from the quarry pullout to point 4. The trail sidehills in a northerly direction to the grove of trees (see photo). Existing trails appear to have light to medium use and people tend to stay on them. The fire ring at point 5 was gone this visit and the vegetation is recovering. There were 2 women and a child sitting in the tree stand enjoying the day. The area was free of litter. I observed 6 Gulls on the rocks and 4 Cormorants floating in the water.
Conditions
Temperature: 51 F. Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 3.0 feet.
Human Activities
Other Activities: This stretch offer little opportunity to get near the water. I did run across 4 people enjoying the view from Rodea point and 3 sitting in the tree stand ("T" on map) below the quarry. There were 2 cars parked along the one way section of Otter Crest loop where it would afford a good view of the ocean.. There was a Canadian couple bicycling the coast and they stopped to take pictures. 3 vehicles were located a Rodea point and people didn't exit their vehicles. The car at the quarry turnout did have 3 people who hiked down to the tree stand at point 5.
