Mile 218 Report
Agate Beach, State Wayside, Little Creek
September 11, 2018
Most of the people were at the north end of the beach.
Report Details
Most of the people were at the north end of the beach. The creek sported "Brass buttons" (Cotula coronopifolia). Several turkey vultures were feasting on an unidentifiable bird carcass, and what appeared to be a seal pup. They allowed me to get pretty close. There were two great blue herons along the creek. There was also a bird in the trees by the creek which I couldn't identify due to lack of binoculars, but it looked like it might be a common tern. The sea weed content in the wrack was bull kelp, eel grass, surf grass, feather boas, and rockweed. Dunes are still pretty prevalent, temporary "tide pools" forming between them in the high tide zone.

Very few people on the beach; most of them arrived just prior to sunset (which was beautiful).
