Report Details
This morning at 8 the beach was nearly deserted, and the weather was beautiful--sunny and not windy. It was low tide, and the beach was wide and flat. The water had been up very high on the beach, in some places to the bluffs. There were wide slicks of water on the beach, some left by the receding tides and some coming down from the cliffs, and still others a mixture of both. I saw small egg cases from some marine animal in several places. The wrack line was sparse. My walk was very peaceful and quiet.
Conditions
Temperature: 48 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 1.8 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 6. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 6. The places where people have worn paths into the (sometimes vegetated) dunes coming down to the beach are becoming more obvious.
Vehicles
Notable Wildlife
I saw 5 gulls on my mile.
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces. I see small broken plastic pieces more than pellets. There were bits of rope and a couple of pieces of marine floats.
Natural Changes
There was no major new erosion, but this time like many times I found more subtle changes.
