Report Details

Business as usual. People seem to clean up after themselves and be responsible. Suspect a handful of people live on the beach with the number of fire spots and where they were located [next to large driftwood logs in the sand, up close to the vegetation, etc.] The one small "party" spot is to be expected at this time of year I suppose. No major issues or concerns.Site of "party" campfire and continued erosion of ground under Jumpoff Joe's in attached photos, if desired.

Conditions

Temperature: 64 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 7.3 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 60. Number of dogs: 5. Walking or running: 30. Playing in surf: 7. Playing in sand: 7. Sitting: 15. Surfing: 1. Business as usual... Tourists walking down to the water and back with their families. Very little to no foot traffic along the actual *mile* of beach down from Agate Beach Wayside, now that the entrance at Jumpoff Joe is no longer accessible. Only the one single person who was surfing could be spotted along the mile. Everyone else just stuck within eyeshot of their cars at the parking wayside. There were an additional 10-20 vehicles, maybe more, in the larger parking lot requiring foot entrance through the long tunnel.

Concerns

Fire, Litter

Apparent violations: One spot, down from the parking lot, in the sand... Looks like there was a nice big party- large campfire remains, and a few small piles of garbage, cups and things. Multiple other spots up and down the beach with evidence of very small fires but no garbage, seem to keep it under control and clean..

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 10.

Notable Wildlife

Many many birds. Mostly seagulls, but other seabirds as well. Probably saw a good 2 or 3 dozen total over the 1 1/2 hr walk.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. negligible amounts of fishing netting scraps. very tiny pieces.
