Glorious day. Many people on the beach taking advantage of it. We only count going in one direction (COASST) as we are looking closely for dead birds and changes. There were likely more than 18 people, and we could see more in the distance, as this beach connects to Washburn Beach and there are a number of access points within a one mile stretch.

Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 2.0 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 18. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 15. Photography: 2. It was a beautiful day so a lot of people were out enjoying our glorious beaches. A couple of men from Eugene I spoke to were looking for Tsunami debris. A couple was looking for agates in the bluff rocks as there is an area here where cobble is exposed in a large layer of the bluff.

Beached Birds

no birds. We look for dead seabirds as part of COASST. This is our second month of no dead birds

Driftline Content

Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Styrofoam, Wood pieces. we picked up about half a white trash bag full of garbage today

Natural Changes

no signs left (other than a channel in the bluff) of steps noted in October, and commented on again last month.

The wrack line contained feathers, rocks, pieces of shells, a piece of rope, a piece of foam and a piece of a float. There is evidence of waves under cutting the bushes on the dune, retreat of the dunes and wave over topping.

The entry way to Muriel Ponsler has been enhanced by a load of gravel that was placed in the entry way ditch. There were a lot of sand filling in the beach which is usual in the summer.

A lot of people on the beach today backpacking, rock hounding, playing and picnicking on the beach. There was one large piece of fiberglass on the beach.

The entry way to Carl Washburn heading towards China Creek was very slippery with mud and by the wind sailor jellyfish.
