Mile 162 - Oregon Dunes NRA, west of North Beach - March 20, 2020

My first time on this mile. The beach time I spent was at low tide and the beach area was very deep. No log on the beach but old looking driftwood and gnarly stump up near the dunes. In the middle of the my mile was this large long section of 1/2 to 1 inch shells about an inch thick. It was like a loose but thick mosaic of shells. Wished I'd had my camera. It was unusual. Like what you might see on a beach in the tropics.

Human Activities

Number of people: 20. Number of dogs: 3. Walking or running: 7. Playing in surf: 2. Playing in sand: 3. Sitting: 2. Fishing: 1. Other Activities: Riding in vechiles, AHV, motor bikes. 5 large pick up trucks with around 20 OHV's but in the 1 and 1/2 hours I was walking I saw very few of the AHV in use.. People were enjoying the ocean, sand and beautiful cold windy day

Concerns

Apparent violations: 2 people were behind the roped off are for snowy plover. It was a cold windy day and the were taking shelter in the beach grass. That is my assumption..
