Report Details

My biggest surprise was the lack of trash, I nearly always bring three or four bags of trash off the beach, but not today. Do not know whether it is tide, wind, or the wonderful efforts of the surf riders again......but it was a pleasure to walk the beach today

Conditions

Temperature: 62 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 2.0 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 10. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 4. Kayaking: 6.

Notable Wildlife

saw numerous varied thrushes on the path to the beach, and two large egrets fishing the river. A handful of seagulls in the surf and a few snowy plovers still around

Stranded Marine Mammals

Total stranded mammals: 1. Saw the remains of one headless seal pup, pretty much desiccated but with enough fur and markings to recognise

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces.

Actions & Comments

the lagoons in behind the dunes seem to have large amounts of green fern like growth. In one place in particular it has taken over a third of the waters surface, but there was a kingfisher and great blue heron on patrol for lunch there.

My mile was actually inaccessible the ponds on either side of the path had grown together and blocked the path at least a hundred yards before the normal little ford I always have to cross It will be a while before that goes down.
