Mile 220 Report
Yaquina Head north, Schooner Creek south
May 6, 2019
A nice day on Sea Star Beach--with just a few persons.
Report Details
A nice day on Sea Star Beach--with just a few persons. The birds are back at Yaquina Head, and the hill near my "Keyhole" picture is still eroding--causing slight change to get photo of ocean through a hole in the cliff.
Conditions
Temperature: 50 F. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: -1.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 3. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 3. Note: Cars couldn't get to Beach from NW 68th--City is redoing pipes to lifting station. Hopefully it will not spill untreated into the ocean--as it has in the past.
Notable Wildlife
The Birds are back at Yaquina Head--I could have counted hundreds in a few minutes.
Driftline Content
Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea). Actually the wrack line was fairly good--some plastic but not as bad as some times.
New Development
Drainage pipes. Last Feb. report had pipe #4--it is no longer there. Either it total eroded from bluff or [less likely] the bluff has slid down enough material to cover it.
Natural Changes
It is the Oregon shore, erosion is present--less changes than during winter storms.
Actions & Comments
I have changed my way down to the beach--erosion on the path way has led to a very slick area, especially when wet.
