It seems a perfect storm of covid, high tides, floating logs, and restrictions on facilities has kept people from visiting mile 181 recently. There's still a lot of sand near the walk up to the parking lot, but a steeper slope toward the ocean. The water comes all the way up unpredictably at medium tide. Fewer people usually means less human related issues like trash, fires, parties.

Number of people: 4. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 4. Limited opening of bathrooms and campground area remains closed which means fewer people come to mile 181. The high tides and large waves also limit beach access and water covers the whole beach even before high tide.

During a minus tide I noticed the sand was soaked with puddles and with wet logs scattered everywhere. There were places where hundreds of Velella jellyfish were observed on the sand.
