Kayaked from Storm Ranch to site of old 2002 breach and walked N and S from this point. Saw Red Fox and Raccoon tracks. Large tree trunks and logs deposited during winter overwash events in old breach site. Sand building up on beach. A BLM information kiosk had been vandalized, and the appropriate persons have been notified. Shells, kelp, wood pieces, land- and ocean-based debris in driftline. Pollen colored residue (phytoplankton) on beach. Two Snowy Plovers. Low human impact (0).

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 2.0 feet.

Apparent violations: vandalism on information kiosk.

Big stumps and large woody debris left behind in old breach site evidence of significant winter overwashing. Recent deposition of sand building up beach. Evidence that +7.9 tide earlier today barely made it over high point on the beach.
