Kayaked across New River at N end of mile 92 and walked S.
Report Details
Kayaked across New River at N end of mile 92 and walked S. to point .5 mile S. of Coos/Curry Cty line. No sign of human activity. Normal winter shoreline erosion with tide eroding at base of foredune and overtopping at sights of previous overwashes. Mostly wood pieces, razor clam shells, bull kelp on beach. .5 to 3 foot thick layer of white frothy foam on beach looks like snow in photos. Site of previous year NR breach active and flowing 70 feet across at mouth. Gulls flying S along beach. Sanderlings picking goodies out of the foam. Saw just a few pelicans and cormorants. One dead Northern Fulmar.

Temperature: 47 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: W. Tide Level: 2.0 feet.

Total dead birds: 1. Pacific Northern Fulmar/1/ no band.

Seaweeds and seagrass, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Shells, Wood pieces. frothy white foam
Natural Changes
Evidence of wave overtopping.
Actions & Comments
Some evidence of overtopping with waves making it back into the foredune but not making it to the river except at areas of previous breaching.
