Mile 60 - Floras Lake SP, Floras Lake, Denmark - February 3, 2013

Just me and Matt and one other person walking this mile. Mild weather, sea calm and not many animals or birds seen. One dead harbor seal and poss. fulmar remains on beach. Normal amounts of wooden debris, more plastic debris closer to Floras Lake, less closer to Blacklock. Can'nt wait for next hike. Later CapeWalker

Number of people: 3. Walking or running: 1. One person walking north and us two walking south

Notable Wildlife

Few shorebirds, one dead harbor seal at creek at Half way beach, at base of bluffs, old road connects main trail to beach. On bird carcass. Not much sea algae, more bull kelp than any other. Medium size wood/logs

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 1. poss. fulmar. (dead things are less fun for me).

Stranded Marine Mammals

one dead floating and not moving harbor seal in mouth of creek from airport.

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

no fish or other sea life seen on beach

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Styrofoam, Wood pieces. plastic bottles more closer to Floras Lake, all look blow in.

Natural Changes

These mud cliffs/bluffs are alway eroding, mostly from beach waves.
