Interesting flatsum for late in the year.

Interesting flatsum for late in the year. Japanese containers present. I also wanted to report a metal 55 gallon barrel that is sealed, and appears to contain some liquid. I realize this could be a small amount of ocean water. No leaks are visable. Barrel is located 100-200 yards north of where the sand portion of beach 43 ends.
Conditions
Temperature: 65 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: -1.0 feet.

Litter
Notable Wildlife
hunting Osprey, cormoran, greeb, common muir, ravens (eating mole crabs) gulls, turkey vultures, swallows,and coyote tracks. No real landing of vavella (sailor jelly fish) this spring.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 1.
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces. lots of live baby mole crabs, and great American hoppers
Natural Changes
Evidence of wave overtopping, Visible retreat of solid bluff.
Actions & Comments
Area is highly unstable and erosive. Some landslides are expected here. South end of beach has less sand then the past few years, as I have some points of reference on solid rock cliff.

Stepping on to be beach I was greeted by a healthy supply of summer sand, low swells and blue water with changing shades of color and contrast as the puffy clouds blew over from the northwest.

Over ten feet of sand has migrated from the north end of mile 43, as remnant bits of last summer's beach can still be seen high near the vegetation line.

Visiting my mile is traditionally a low tide, moderate to low swell event.

Although it is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the beach, ODOT did a major repair to the place I park and access my mile.

Nice afternoon with exceptionally clean and clear air.

The ocean was quite foamy from a high swell at night but had subsided to around 5 feet when I was there.
