Very low tide permitted access to most of this mile, north to south (except for "the point" which was observed from above and from the south).

Very low tide permitted access to most of this mile, north to south (except for "the point" which was observed from above and from the south). Gorgeous day -- windy beach protected by Humbug Mtn. Minimal marine and land debris. The stairs at Pigeon Pt. access were removed.

Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: -1.4 feet.

Notable Wildlife
2 BLOY pair (one couple engaged in aerial courtship display), Turkey Vultures, Osprey, Brown Pelicans, Common Merganser, Red-necked Phalarope (juv.), Spotted Sandpiper, Semi-palmated Plovers, Barn Swallows
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 1. Pigeon Guillemot, beheaded, being eaten by TV. We have not previously seen Pigeon Guillemot on this mile.
Driftline Content
Small rocks. Lots of rocks - no other content in driftline
Natural Changes
Erosion of vegetated foredune.
Actions & Comments
Erosion likely from heavy winter storms.

The mile could not be accessed from Arizona Beach -- Mussel Creek was impassable; the southern access from Frankport site was flooded, we parked in the area south of that.

Seasonal sands have arrived, making this mile very accessible.

Mussel Creek channel is meandering, narrower and deepening.
