The beach was empty.
Report Details
The beach was empty. No plastics or trash were observed. We stumbled across 10 western snowy plovers on the north end of our survey. Shorebirds were hunkered down in deep foot prints in the sand--providing some shelter from the rain. Woody debris on the beach was composed of mostly large wood pieces.
Conditions
Temperature: 47 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 7.1 feet.
Human Activities
We didn’t see any other humans during our survey.

Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Wood pieces.
Natural Changes
During this time of year sand deposits from winter storms are noticeable on the Nehalem Spit.

It was very windy and rainy with just one person observed walking in the distance towards the southern end of the mile.

From the entrance to the beach from the state park, walking north, I saw about 40 people, eight dogs, three horses, lots of washed up upside-down crabs, and several small beached jellyfish.
