Report Details
Beautiful sunny Sunday at low tide, breezy and chilly at about 48°. Pretty big surf. Saw 25 people and 4 dogs upon entering at north end of Nadonna Beach, and saw 38 people and six dogs walking back up my mile from the south. Most people were walking in family groups or occupying the many "forts" built of driftwood. One fisherman was in the water with bare feet, otherwise everyone wore shoes and stayed on dry land due to the chill. Beach looks swept clean by the high tide, with barely anything left in the driftline besides small stones, occasional broken shells (no crab; mostly razor clams), very minimal seaweed, a couple of jelly fish, and incongruously, a pomegranate. Saw only a couple of pieces of human-made trash. We're expecting King Tides next week (15-17) so I wanted to do a "before" for comparison, even at low tide. To this end I include photos of mouth of Crescent Creek to the south and between the jetties of Nehalem River to the north.
Conditions
Temperature: 48 F. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 4.1 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 38. Number of dogs: 6. Walking or running: 31. Sitting: 6. Fishing: 1. Other Activities: One guy walked out to the tip of the jetty, not very wise with sneaker wave warnings.... Several groups of people occupied some of the many driftwood "forts" up near the dunes, as convenient wind shelter and sitting area.
Notable Wildlife
Only saw 3 or 4 live seagulls, on sand or flying.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. A pomegranate!

It was a gorgeous sunny but quite cold afternoon, with a brisk wind from the northeast blowing sand toward the surf across a wide low-tide beach.
