Very foggy day.
Report Details
Very foggy day. Many more people on the beach than usual probably because it is Sunday in July and Portland is very hot today. A number of groups camping in the dunes (but no sanitary facilities are available) and evidence of horses on the beach and footprints coming from the spit to the beach. Very little trash on the beach.

Temperature: 62 F. Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: E. Tide Level: 0.0 feet.

Number of people: 27. Walking or running: 15. Sitting: 10. Other Activities: four large groups camping in tents in the dunes.

Jellyfish, lots of crab shells, few crows and seagulls but no large groups of shore birds

Total dead birds: 1. very disintegrated probably a gull

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt). fairly clean beach, just a few trash things we picked up

Beautiful Oregon coast bluebird day. Large wash up of old velella casings at high tide line creating a very strong "ocean" odor Very little trash on my mile of beach but collections of bottles and styrofoam found further down closer to Cape Meares (collected and disposed of) Few sea birds today

Recent king tides encroaching onto and undercutting fore dune. More debris than usual. A few shore birds Little human activity Large "octopus tree" I have been following has rotated again and the trunk now points NE. I continue to take photo facing N and S at the high tide line at the MP 29 sign entrance to the beach
