Report Details

I walked down the roads end beach, then hiked up the trail to westwind on Saturday. On Sunday, I hiked the other direction from Westwind. On Saturday, I observed several (3?) people climbing up the loose cliff at the north end of the roads end beach. The beach was very crowded as it was a balmy day and the last Saturday of spring break.

Conditions

Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light.

Human Activities

Number of people: 20. Number of dogs: 5. Walking or running: 15. Sitting: 2. Photography: 2. Other Activities: climbing on cliffs: 3 walking: 8. I didn't count people exactly on the beach- this is from memory- because I didn't know I'd have the chance to hike the rest of the area. The Roads End state park was overflowing with cars lined up on the street. Clearly a lot of people had walked from this access north. There was a lot of plastic trash in the wrack line, although it looked like it had been transported there, not littered. One person was on the beach beyond the point (not the big beach accessible only by sea or westwind, but the one before it) which is usually only accessible at very low tide or by climbing down the bluff.

Concerns

Climbing bluffs/seastacks

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 6.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Styrofoam.

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls. minor landslide, not sure how old. Took a spruce tree down by the waterfall.
