Mile 246 Report
Cliffs north of Roads End Beach
July 25, 2020
This is such a beautiful mile, the series of hidden beaches beyond the first headland never seem to get added to the reports so I wanted to help out.
Report Details
This is such a beautiful mile, the series of hidden beaches beyond the first headland never seem to get added to the reports so I wanted to help out. I noted there were agates present on the shoreline! There is a set of sea caves full of tide pool life and each had some marine debris inside. I also noted some of the islands had large amounts of Brandt's Cormorants and on the last beach I saw small deer hoof prints in the sand. With binoculars I was able to see 3 deer up the ravine. A smaller 4 point buck, a larger 6 point buck, and a young doe grazing.
Conditions
Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: E. Tide Level: -1.3 feet.
Human Activities
Lots of people exploring the cliffs and beaches north of Roads End. These reports don’t go beyond the first headland. I hiked the entire mile all the way beyond the bottom of Gods Thumb. There was no one beyond the first hidden beach.
