Lots of agate hunters for this minus tide event (-0.34 at 11:40 a.m.) on Mother's Day. A few children (4) a few dogs (3) no major issues, little trash, gray whales visible just beyond surf zone.

Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 0.0 feet.

Number of people: 34. Number of dogs: 4. Playing in sand: 3. Tidepooling: 6. Fishing: 1. Report for Fogarty Creek State Park. Boiler Bay State Park had school bus and 10 other vehicles in parking lot.1 vehicle in parking area just N of Boiler Bay St. Park where bakery used to be. 1 person using coastal trail N. of Boiler Bay State Park. Work on bridge has had S. side access to beach at Fogarty Creek closed for 2 months. But clearly marked detour to get people over the small footbridges to N. side entrance.

Notable Wildlife
2 gray whales spouting just beyond surf zone. Performing oyster catcher survey for USFWS from N. of Whale Cove to Fishing Rock Headline. At least 5th year doing this.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Some Velella velella, but not as much as on beaches by Beverly Beach, offshore rocks probably interrupt drift.

Seaweeds and seagrass, Small rocks. A lot of sand on the beach, little bedrock, only a little algae
Natural Changes
Newly exposed roots/trees falling, Visible retreat of solid bluff. this winter has continued the erosion of the bluffs, but no major storms

It was a cold coastal day but there were still a few Oregonions out enjoying the shore. It was a bit scary to watch the young boys playing in dangerous surf. Uploaded a pic of some debris with Salishan's name on it.
