A very calm sea, which was surprising for the moderate wind. The snorkeling would have been great. Great wildlife in the refuge area in the southern part.

Number of people: 20. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 15. Sitting: 8. Fishing: 5. Two touring bikes stopping for a break. Four outfall pipes extrude over the bluff/rocky water's edge. people out beyond the "Danger, don't go past this sign" were just at Boiler Bay, not at the refuge area at the south edge of the hotels at the southern part of the mile. Several people sitting on balconies there.

Concerns

Climbing bluffs/seastacks, Litter, People/dogs/vehicles in closure areas

Apparent violations: People fishing in rocks beyond closure sign, some garbage--not extreme.

Notable Wildlife

Ten sea lions on back on Oregon islands rocks. Looked like great snorkeling. Saw California gulls, crows, flock of brant flying north, Calm sea, merganser, a king fisher, comorant looking bird with a white band around body just in front of tail.

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

Unusual concentration. Couldn't get close enough to really see if there were any, though none that were obvious.

No, I thought about calling regarding the people going out on the rocks past the fence at Boiler Bay state Park, and next time, I probably will.
